A drop in knife crime in Hackney - Hackney police say they are tackling knife crime with various strategic tactics in the borough with increasing success.

There were 508 knife offences from April last year to March 12th this year, compared with 612 offences in the same period the previous year, representing a 17 per cent reduction.

Launch of Safer streets Initiative - Family of murdered London teenager Jimmy Mizen launch safer streets project 1st of April.

The street safety initiative in association with ‘The CitySafe Campaign’ will bring young people together with the police and businesses in a bid to rebuild trust and create safer environments. The scheme will be piloted with 100 young people and adults being trained to become positive points of contact for teenagers. They have volunteered with the aim of building better relations between schools, communities and the police.
